Fun, Community, and Competition for a Good Cause
motionball, a national non-profit organization that empowers young professionals to become leaders in their communities, hosts its annual flagship event, Marathon of Sport Toronto, on May 24th at the York University Campus.
Returning for its 24th year, the Marathon of Sport Toronto brings people and communities with and without intellectual disabilities together to build lasting connections while competing in a full day of fun activities.
This event will see 56 teams competing in various activities, including traditional sports such as soccer and basketball and lawn-style games like giant ping pong, for a good cause.
Participants will receive motionball swag, lunch, other refreshments, the opportunity to win prizes, and a ticket to the Marathon of Sport onsite after-party, featuring live music, drinks, and more!
Marathon of Sport Toronto participants can also take the #NoGoodWay pledge, motionball’s campaign to eliminate the negative and casual use of the r-word and promote positivity and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

motionball is a national non-profit organization that empowers young professionals to become leaders in their communities, raising funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation (SOCF) through integrated sports and social events in cities across Canada. Throughout the motionball calendar year, over 11,000 supporters and Special Olympics athletes participate in 50+ annual events in 19 Canadian cities and 26+ university campuses.
Marathon of Sport Toronto 2025 is presented by Scarborough Toyota with a fundraising goal of $450,000 net. The funds raised through this year’s Marathon of Sport Toronto will ensure Special Olympics athletes have the resources to stay active and compete in the sports they love at a local and national level.
motionball aims to provide a sustainable funding model and base of supporters for the Special Olympics movement by engaging and empowering young professionals and university students.
To date, motionball has donated over $20 million net to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
