Small-town romance, a cookie-contest scandal, and a moose on the loose are coming to Toronto as The Unauthorized Hallmark(ish) Parody Musical returns this holiday season.

Following its sold-out world premiere in Toronto last year, the production sleights into the Meridian Arts Centre from November 28th to January 3rd, blending Broadway-style performances, original pop songs and a cheeky take on familiar holiday movie tropes.

Guests will get to experience a hilarious, immersive Broadway-style show that blends your favourite holiday movie tropes with high-octane, original pop songs that will make you jingle
A Small-Town Holiday Romance Goes Off Script (Synopsis)
The story follows Holly, an overworked city executive who returns to her hometown to help her mother run the family business. There, she reconnects with Mark, an old flame who is now the local sheriff.
Between a looming corporate merger and a cookie contest cheating conspiracy involving a moose on the loose, Holly has plenty to navigate beyond her holiday homecoming.

Immersive holiday moments and original songs including “Judge That Cookie” and “It Feels Like Christmas (Because It Is Literally Christmas)” turn the seasonal setup into a playful musical comedy.
Broadway Experience Meets Toronto Talent
The production comes from co-authors Bonnie Milligan, Joel Waggoner, and Tim Drucker, who also directs the show.
“Talented Toronto artists helped shape the soul of Hallmark(ish), and we’re proud to have so many of them returning to the stage,” said Drucker. “Their energy, comedy, and musicality make this a festive, feel-good holiday show neatly wrapped with a snarky little twist.”

Whether you’re a devoted holiday movie fan or enjoy a good send-up of small-town romance, the musical offers a festive outing filled with comedy, music, and affectionate nods to the genre.
As always, keep up with what’s happening across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area on efosa.
