This weekend, Toronto’s Old Book and Paper Expo returns on November 8th, bringing first-edition books, handwritten letters, vintage photographs and other paper treasures to the city.

Taking place at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, the event gives guests a chance to discover rare and unusual books, postcards, maps, posters and paper ephemera, all with stories you won’t find on a digital screen.

With 80 tables filled with vintage finds, visitors can browse everything from concert posters and old advertisements to pulp fiction and handwritten letters.
Rare Finds With Stories to Tell
Among the pieces coming to the show is a collection of circus photographs and postcards from the 1920s to the 1960s, featuring acrobats, jugglers, clowns and other performers.
Book collectors can look out for a first edition of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan and the Foreign Legion in its dust jacket, alongside a first edition of Ernest Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell Tolls in a first-issue jacket.

Hockey history will also have a place at the expo, with a 1940s photo album belonging to Conn Smythe featuring more than 200 original photographs, most connected to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Whether you’re searching for a rare addition to your collection or simply enjoy the thrill of an unexpected find, the Old Book and Paper Expo offers a chance to discover pieces of the past, one page at a time.

As always, keep up with what’s happening across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area on efosa.
