It is colorful, It is vibrant, It is Carnival Season again!
Carnival lovers and Lovers of all things fun can rejoice after the Toronto Caribbean Carnival 2024 season officially kicked off its launch event over the weekend.
The vibrant event was held at the Scarborough Town Centre for the first time, drawing over 5000 people and featuring a brief appearance from superstar Soca Trinidadian artist Patrice Roberts.
Prominent faces in the landscape of Toronto were present, including longtime avid supporters of the Carnival MP Michael Couteau and Minister of International Development of Canada Ahmed Hussen
The launch kicked off with a land acknowledgment followed by the scintillating silent national anthem performance from the Soca band as Pan sounds rang through the audience in a pleasing version.
This year also featured performances from Toronto-based artists including Jaxx and Panatics Steel Band.
Right at noon, mas bands paraded the stage in their vibrant outfits; the designs were majestic, angelic, and colorful.
As the day went on, many performances hyped up the crowd, speeches, and a slight intermission in between, allowing visitors to work around the area and check out market vendors.
Night came, and so was the close of the event, just at 10:00 pm. The Toronto Caribbean Carnival provided anticipation for what is expected as the Carnival Season rolls around till its grandiose Grande Parade on August 3rd, 2024
