TIFF Key Event Dates
The 50th Toronto International Film Festival, presented by Rogers, will take place from September 4th to 14th, 2025, with a range of events scheduled throughout the Festival. Here are some key events and festival dates you should know about.
September 4th – TIFF KICK OFF outside TIFF Lightbox
The 50th Festival kicks off with the official unveiling of TIFF’s star on Canada’s Walk of Fame outside TIFF Lightbox. All are welcome to the ceremony, which will be followed by a lively cake-cutting celebration to officially open Festival Street.
September 4th to 7th – TIFF Festival Street
TIFF’s Festival Street returns for its tenth year, transforming King Street West into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly space for film lovers from September 4–7. l. Stretching from Peter Street to University Avenue, the four-day celebration offers free entertainment, immersive activities, and a lively mix of food, drinks, art, and culture. New this year, there will be an outdoor dining activation with additional seating and lighting by the Food Market.
September 4th to 13th – Free Outdoor Screenings in David Pecaut Square
Cinema Park is back with free outdoor screenings in David Pecaut Square. Inspired by TIFF’s Official Selections and guests, these classics come with a few surprises! This year’s lineup features the 40th anniversary of The Goonies (September 4th), Uncle Buck (September 5th), Sound of Metal (September 6th), Marie Antoinette (September 7th), the 25th anniversary of Best in Show (September 8th), the 30th anniversary of Before Sunrise (September 9th), the 25th anniversary of High Fidelity (September 10th), Lady Bird (September 11th), Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (September 12th), and Moonstruck (September 13th). Films will be presented with open captions and screened nightly, rain or shine, at 10:00 pm.
September 5th to 9th – The TIFF 50 Industry Conference
TORONTO — The TIFF 50 Industry Conference presented by Christie Digital runs from September 5–9, welcoming thousands of Canadian and international delegates to Toronto. Programming includes business development, deal-making opportunities, and networking, with sessions spotlighting the trends and decision-makers shaping today’s global screen sector.
September 7th – TIFF Tribute Awards Gala at Fairmont Royal York Hotel
The 7th annual TIFF Tribute Awards is the fundraising gala that celebrates outstanding contributions to cinema. Lots of stars are expected to attend. Proceeds support TIFF’s 50th edition campaign, Transform Together, advancing TIFF’s talent development, honouring visionary artists, and deepening community impact. Presented in partnership with Rolex, with support from RBC, Don Julio, and Fairmont Royal York.
September 8th – TIFF Black Excellence Brunch at RBC House inside Petros82 restaurant
The 3rd Annual TIFF Black Excellence Brunch celebrates ‘Black Excellence’ in film while shining a spotlight on Black creativity, cultural leadership, and cinematic legacy on September 8th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
September 9th – Next Wave Block Party Presented by Snapchat at Festival Street Music Stage
Festival Street’s first-ever Next Wave Block Party Presented by Snapchat takes over John Street on Saturday, September 9th, starting at 3:30 pm to 9:15 pm. Bringing young audiences together to celebrate and connect with the next generation of artists and creators, the Next Wave Block Party features a jam-packed lineup of musical talent and activations.
September 14th – TIFF In-Person Awards at TIFF Bell Lightbox
All prizes will be presented during an in-person awards ceremony, which will also be livestreamed at 10:00 am. ET at TIFF Lightbox on Sunday, September 14th, the last day of the Festival.
TIFF Partner and Fan Events Beyond the Screen
September 5th – Afternoon Tea Event by Four Seasons Hotel Toronto and BAFTA
BAFTA, in partnership with Four Seasons Hotel Toronto will host an afternoon tea event in d|bar to celebrate industry talent and spotlight British films and filmmakers at TIFF. Attendees will savor Champagne and premium loose-leaf tea blends while enjoying elevated English treats crafted by Pastry Chef Kevin Levionnois and his team.
September 5th to 7th – Rogers TIFF 50 Timescape at YorkVille Ave
Located in Yorkville from September 5th to 7th, Rogers is creating the TIFF 50 Timescape. This walk-through experience explores TIFF’s past and the evolution of the Festival through interactive multimedia content, archival images, and entertainment. Each day, the Casa Loma Symphony Orchestra will play scores from notable films that screened at TIFF over the past 50 years. It is free and open to the public. The Rogers TIFF 50 Timescape is located on Yorkville Avenue, between Hazelton Avenue and Bellair Street. September 11th – TIFF Movie Magic at Windsor Arms Hotel

September 13th – TIFF X TTC Free Screening
TIFF has once again partnered with the TTC to give Torontonians greater access to Festival films. On Saturday, September 13 at 3:00 PM, fans are invited to the Royal Alexandra Theatre for the TTC Free Screening of a surprise TIFF 50 Official Selection. Tips for Visitors and fun TIFF tidbits to know and things to know
- TIFF’s Pop-Up Shop returns to the Lightbox, featuring items designed and curated with film lovers in mind. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, TIFF is once again collaborating with Roots on a limited-edition jacket, alongside its popular leather goods partnership.
- TIFF 50/50 Fundraiser — Want your chance to win big? This past winter, TIFF 50/50 awarded over $90,000 in prizes, including $64,070 in cash to the jackpot winner. For the 50th Festival, there are bigger prizes and more early bird draws, with a minimum jackpot of $50,000 that increases daily. In addition to purchasing online, keep an eye out for the in-person 50/50 ticket sellers throughout the Festival.
- Celebrate the World Premiere of Still Single with Canada’s first two-star Michelin chef, Masaki Saito, subject of the documentary from Jamal Burger and Jukan Tateisi. A 60-foot sushi bar pop-up will serve free omakase, prepared by over a dozen chefs from Yorkville’s MSSM, offering passersby a taste of Chef Saito’s groundbreaking culinary artistry.
