The Vegan Fashion Show returns to Toronto this weekend, September 22nd, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Nathan Phillips Square, showcasing designs made from animal-free, animal cruelty-free, and sustainable brands from around the world.
The Vegan Fashion Show is one of the must-see acts of the festivities of VegTO, one of Toronto’s largest vegan summer festivals. It will preview groundbreaking innovation in fashion with beautiful models wearing sustainable next-generation materials. Next-generation materials are animal-free, sustainable alternatives to wool, silk, down, fur, leather, and exotic skins.
Designers/ brands that will be part of The Vegan Fashion Show at VegTO Fest include:
- The Wifey Collection. A modest, faith-based, and slow fashion designer. Clothes from this brand are handmade by Muslim women, proving that modest fashion can be stylish. Previously the designer’s collections at the show were showstopping extravagant 16th century gowns; complete with glorious crowns and all accessories fit for a queen. The Vegan Fashion Show landed the designer a CBC interview after last year’s show.
- RT Atelier is a sustainable designer using upcycled materials (even upcycled umbrellas!) and plant-based silks that flow beautifully on the runway.
- No. 49 is a premium sustainable handbag brand using bamboo leather, apple leather, raffia, and recycled materials. With every purchase, this brand partners with various organizations to remove plastics from the oceans and reduce carbon emissions. Use code VFS20 for 20% off.
- Jummobi is a South East Asian Indigenous designer brand. The designer shares beautiful patterns, arts, and history with the rest of the world while safeguarding Indigenous heritage and cultures.
- Wuxly is a Canadian outerwear brand. You may have seen its warm jackets in the most recent Ghostbusters movie. The brand uses next-gen materials, such as high-performance down alternatives, in its seriously warm winter jackets. It also uses other next-gen materials, such as Tencel, in its plant-based clothing collections.
“We’re excited to welcome The Vegan Fashion Show to our 39th annual VEGTO Fest. We can’t wait to see their showcase of sustainable, cruelty-free innovations by talented local designers at the mainstage of Nathan Phillips Square,” states Kimberly D’Oliveira, Executive Director at VegTO Fest

ABOUT THE VEGAN FASHION SHOW 2024
Since its inception in 2022, the Vegan Fashion Show has grown rapidly to become one of Toronto’s most notable fashion events. It has been featured in full editorials worldwide in Forbes, Vogue Mexico, Harper’s Bazaar Australia, and Fashion Week Online.
So far, the Vegan Fashion Show has donated over $10,000 to the organization Animal Justice and has partnered with major organizations, including North America’s biggest vegan expo, Planted Expo Toronto. Producer and Director Vikki Lenola is an animal welfare advocate and has provided educational talks at various festivals and summits in Southern Ontario. One of their primary focuses is the sustainability of the environment.
“A couple of years ago I was watching a sustainability panel at one of the largest fashion weeks in Canada. On the stage were a handful of ‘sustainability experts’. Not a single mention of animal agriculture from any one of them. Animal agriculture is a top contributor to climate change, deforestation, biodiversity loss, ocean acidification, overuse of antibiotics, zoonotic disease, and many other urgent concerns for humanity. It should not be ignored in the discourse about sustainable fashion. In fact, it should be a major focus.”
Attendees should expect delicious food, shopping, speakers, and entertainment. For more information on the Vegan Fashion Show, visit their website here.
