An Immersive and captivating celebration of Chinese culture in Markham this February
Lights, Culture, and Fun!
The City of Markham, Markham Museum, and Ell’Events Inc present the captivating Lunar Nights: Year of the Dragon Festival that will turn the historic Markham Museum into stunning and vibrant scenes celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese Lunar New Year from February 8th to 25th.
Visitors will experience a luminous and mesmerizing display of 20 outdoor scenes featuring over 250 colorful lanterns. Beyond the captivating outdoor walk-through lantern show, visitors can immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of experiences, explore the indoor museum’s interactive international exhibitions, engage with traditional vendors, and partake in various interactive activities, including a telescopic moon viewing, a baby dragon encounter, the wish tree, captivating dragon performances, and an indoor arts & crafts program.
In addition, there will also be food vendors on site offering a variety of delectable treats from Asian-themed food trucks and food tents. The festival will also feature indoor vendors showcasing unique wares at the Transportation Hall building, offering an opportunity for delightful discoveries. The festival will provide an engaging experience for all ages, introducing a unique, fresh, and vibrant approach to celebrating the Lunar New Year.
Weather permitting, the festivities will extend to an outdoor ice skating rink (BYO skates) and an invigorating snowshoeing adventure.
