Black-owned businesses in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver can now apply for the 2026 Cassels Black-Owned Business Grant.

Returning for its seventh year, the annual program provides Black entrepreneurs with financial assistance and pro bono legal advice to help strengthen their businesses, address barriers to growth and create long-term economic opportunities.

The grant is organized by Cassels, a Canadian corporate law firm, with support from Wheaton Precious Metals and a new partnership with the Black Opportunity Fund. The grant program supports businesses that align with the firm’s core values and are positioned to benefit from financial assistance and professional legal guidance.

Since launching, the program has supported 26 recipients through a combined funding and legal-services pool valued at $1.26 million.

Available Funding and Prizes

Each selected business will be eligible to receive:

• Grant funding
• Pro bono legal advice from Cassels
• A combined package of funding and legal services valued at up to $80,000

The amount of funding and legal support awarded to each recipient may vary.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicant businesses must meet the following requirements:

• Be a Canadian for-profit business
• Have been incorporated for at least two years
• Be at least 51 per cent owned by individuals who self-identify as Black
• Have their head office in Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver
