Mississauga Hong Kong Festival 2026 Returns With Food, Culture and Sports

This year, the Mississauga Hong Kong Festival returns for its second edition, bringing two days of food, culture, sports, entertainment, family-friendly activities, and a celebration of Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage to the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre Sportsplex.

Taking place on August 15th and 16th, the festival will feature authentic Hong Kong cuisine from a variety of food vendors. From classic street snacks to traditional Hong Kong desserts, visitors can enjoy a wide selection of Asian delicacies throughout the weekend.

Those looking to shop can explore a marketplace featuring Hong Kong-Canadian vendors offering handmade accessories, 3D-printed decorations, balloon art, and other unique products.

Guests can also participate in a Hong Kong neon sign-themed workshop, where they can create their own sign to take home. Additional activities will include face painting, complimentary soup tastings, and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.

A Brand-New Film Zone

One of the major additions to this year’s festival is the new indoor Film Zone.

The program will feature a screening of the acclaimed, award-winning Hong Kong documentary Four Trails, which highlights Hong Kong’s stunning mountains and countryside.

The Film Zone will also showcase a selection of works by local Canadian creators.

The documentary screening will take place on Saturday, August 15th, at 4:00 pm, and admission will be open to all festival attendees.

A Historical Exhibition Exploring Hong Kong–Canada Connections

The University of Toronto’s Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library will present a specially curated historical exhibition featuring rare archival materials and vintage photographs.

The exhibition will explore the deep and enduring connections between Hong Kong and Canada through historically significant documents, records, and images that preserve the collective memories of the Hong Kong community.

A special section titled “The Battle of Hong Kong 1941–1945” will highlight the courage of Canadian soldiers who fought in Hong Kong during the Second World War.

Family Activities and Live Entertainment

There will be a new festival Kids Zone featuring giant bouncy castles, oversized floor chess, basketball and football arcade games, and claw machines.

Designed as a space where children can play and stay active, the Kids Zone will offer plenty of entertainment for families throughout the weekend.

Nearly 20 performance groups will also take the stage, presenting a diverse lineup of live bands, dance performances, and cultural showcases.

The World Kongers Cup Returns With an Expanded Sports Program

Following last year’s successful tournament, which attracted nearly 40 teams, the World Kongers Cup will return with an expanded sports program. The seven-a-side soccer tournament will include five divisions across different age groups and genders. The champion of the Open Elite division will receive a $2,000 CAD cash prize.

This year will also mark the debut of a new basketball tournament featuring both five-on-five and three-on-three competitions. The inaugural basketball program has already attracted nearly 20 team registrations and will bring together skilled players while creating more opportunities for sports enthusiasts to connect and compete.
