Shinji, a modern Japanese steakhouse, has officially opened its doors at 333 Bay Street in Toronto’s Financial District.

Created by Harlo Entertainment, the restaurant offers a contemporary interpretation of Japanese dining, bringing together premium ingredients, meticulous craftsmanship, thoughtful hospitality, and a strong sense of occasion.
Designed for celebratory dinners, business gatherings, and long evenings shared with friends and family, Shinji places the experience of gathering around the table at the centre of its concept.
On the Menu
Led by Executive Chef and Partner Jia Zou, Shinji’s menu highlights exceptional Japanese ingredients through refined, ingredient-driven cooking.
Signature dishes include Wagyu Sukiyaki, Shinji’s interpretation of Surf and Turf, and a poached Alaskan king crab bite topped with caviar.

Larger-format offerings, including Wagyu Kamameshi and Osaka Shrimp Noodles, reflect the restaurant’s focus on generous, shareable dining.
A carefully curated nigiri and sashimi program complements the menu, featuring premium selections such as o-toro, chutoro, botan ebi, madai, and hamachi. You can view the full menu here

The beverage program mirrors the food menu’s attention to detail; Japanese whisky highballs are served alongside cocktails inspired by Japanese ingredients and traditions, including the Shochu Highball, Kyoho Grape Highball, and Kohaku Boulevardier.
Guests can also explore a curated sake selection highlighting respected producers from across Japan. An extensive wine program places particular emphasis on large-format bottles, reinforcing Shinji’s focus on celebration and shared dining experiences.
The Space
Shinji’s interior is shaped by the rituals of gathering, dining, and craftsmanship. Inspired by the rich indigo tones and enduring quality of Japan’s historic denim industry, the restaurant features an open-concept design where chefs prepare dishes in full view of guests.

The grill serves as the heart of the restaurant, creating a direct connection between the culinary team and diners.
Throughout the restaurant, light, texture, and materiality work together to create a sense of calm, anticipation, and intrigue. The result is a space designed to remain memorable long after the meal has ended.
About Shinji
Blending exceptional Japanese ingredients, refined culinary execution, thoughtful hospitality, and a distinctive architectural identity, Shinji offers a new destination for Toronto diners seeking both quality and experience.
