Mozart And Bologne - Part 2 (Toronto)
In Paris during the summer of 1778, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges and a young Wolfgang Mozart lived within a block of one another, and yet scholars have no evidence that the two musicians ever met. Seven years later they each published a set of six quartets: Mozart’s are well-known and much beloved, but the Bologne works are only recently rediscovered.
Lucky for music lovers, the Eybler Quartet has continued its exploration of the recently rediscovered Op. 14 string quartets of Joseph Bologne, pairing them with the revered quartets of Wolfgang Mozart dedicated to Haydn.
The sole performance of the Eybler’s May concert will be offered “in the round” at Toronto’s historic Heliconian Club, in Yorkville. The perfect cross between a living room party and a classical concert, the Eybler’s immersive 21st century salon-style format is a unique opportunity to experience one of Canada's best string quartets in an intimate and authentic setting.
