Toronto audiences are set to experience a powerful new theatrical production this winter as Wing Chun Dance Drama makes its North American premiere on December 16 at Meridian Hall, running through January 4th on select dates.

Produced by the acclaimed Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre, Wing Chun Dance Drama is groundbreaking fusion of contemporary dance and traditional Chinese martial arts. The production blends acrobatic dances, precision martial arts, and cinematic staging with breathtaking visuals.

Created in 2022, the thrilling dance drama brings to life the story of legendary grandmaster Ip Man, tracing his impact on the martial art form of Wing Chun, from its centuries-old roots in Southern China to its rise in global popularity and his renowned student Bruce Lee.

Since its debut, Wing Chun Dance Drama has enjoyed sold out performances across Europe and Asia and has broken Chinese box office records with its unique aesthetic that fuses dance with various Chinese martial arts including Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Bagua Zhang, Baji Quan and Praying Mantis woven into fluid choreography, supported by dynamic lighting, dramatic sound design, and cinematic staging.

Wing Chun Dance Drama is recommended for audiences eight years old and above. The run time is about 132 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission, , making it an engaging and accessible experience for both theatre lovers and martial arts enthusiasts alike.
