"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain" - Bob Marley.
Talented Toronto artists will grace the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on October 25th for a live musical rockumentary Tribute to the Legends of Reggae: Bob Marley Edition show in honor of the late great Reggae Legend, Bob Marley.
Hosted by MC Bondé, The Tribute to the Legends of Reggae: Bob Marley Edition is a live musical rockumentary featuring a talented line-up of Toronto artists, Sean Jones, Ammoye, Steele, Omega Mighty, Justice Kumari, and DJ Joshua Lucas, all paying homage to the life and music of a reggae legend.
The tribute show aims to entertain, educate, and inspire audiences by bringing talented rising stars together with a soulful live band as they reimagine Bob Marley’s classics right before the audience.
Come, feel the rhythm, and be lifted by Bob Marley’s message of peace and unity in this powerful showcase of his inspiring music catalog.
Before the big show, I caught up with the talented, multidimensional vocalist Ammoye, who will perform at the show, to learn about her music, how she is inspired by the late great Reggae Legend Bob Marley and her plans for the future.
Below is a detailed summary of my Q&A with Ammoye.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
My biggest inspirations in life are my Grandmother, Bob Marley, Sade, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill and Chet Baker to name a few…
How does Bob Marley Inspire your current sound?
How Bob Marley inspires my current sound is just how thought provoking, empowering, profound, relevant and timeless his music was, is and continues to be. He inspires me to create music that unites, inspires, heals and activates people to create change for the better within themselves and the world.
How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as multidimensional, high vibrational music that is intended to heal people and help my listeners to activate and remember who they truly are on a soul level and bring that truth and knowing into their reality. My music is intended to wake up people and bring them back into joy and unity consciousness where we can be the best versions of ourselves and then create a better and loving world.
What would you say is your biggest challenge as a rising artist?
My biggest challenge now as a rising artist is to not get distracted by the outer world and let it delay or get me off my path. So I’m actively consistently mindful of my thoughts, actions, feelings, words and choices so I’m always in alignment with my highest self so that what I desire to create is exactly what I do want to create, not the opposite, for my highest and greatest good and the highest and greatest good of all. I’m learning to trust myself and my intuition more and more and not the noise of the outer world and situations that we are bombarded with everyday, that’s aimed at keeping us small and less than who we truly are.
What are your plans for 2025?
My plans for 2025 is to continue to expand as an artist and build on growing my audience base here and abroad. I aim to continue to allow myself to grow spiritually and artistically and share my learnings and the new knowledge I’m gaining with my audience. I’m currently writing and recording my new album “The Shift” . It’s an exciting and inspiring body of work that I would describe as a view into where I am now as a person spiritually and musically. I feel it’s my best work to date because I know and feel I’m getting better and better at life and expressing my observations of myself and experiences. Look out for the release of “The Shift” summer of 2025. Also a lot more touring abroad and sharing the music to like minded people around the world who are ready for my kind of music, my energy frequency and sound!
How does our audience keep in touch with you?
You can keep in touch with me via my website www.Ammoye.com or on my social platforms instagram @ammoyesmusic, Facebook same handle as well as on Twitter / X via the same handle. I’m also on TikTok now at AmmoyeMusic.
