Canadian Study of Parliament Group hosts a seminar that explores developments so far and offers perspectives on what remains to be done for legislatures as part of the broader work of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

The role of legislative institutions in reconciliation extends far beyond enacting laws. From matters such as the use of Indigenous languages in proceedings to the increased visibility of Indigenous heritage in legislative spaces, legislatures across Canada increasingly consider including Indigenous peoples, reflecting Indigenous heritages in the legislature’s work, and reckoning with roles as colonial institutions.
