Water Movement, an indigenous organization that bridges the connection between Indigenous water treatment operators, hosts an event to honor, celebrate, and connect with waterkeepers and operators.
Esteemed water operators nationwide will convene in Ottawa to commemorate National Indigenous Water Operator Day. This celebration offers a unique opportunity for the public to connect with, listen to, and learn from these distinguished leaders, hailed as water heroes in their respective regions.
Among our guests of honor are recipients of the National First Nations Water Leadership Award, recognized for their success in lifting communities out of drinking water advisories and inspiring the next generation of water leaders to continue their vital work.
The event will commence with a water ceremony led by Grandmother Irene Compton, setting the tone for a day filled with gratitude and respect. Following this, attendees will have the invaluable opportunity to engage with these frontline heroes, listening to their stories, learning from their experiences, and gaining insights into their tireless efforts to tackle Canada’s Indigenous Water Crisis.
Let us honor and amplify the voices of those leading the charge for clean water.
Light refreshments will be provided.
