The Culinaria Research Centre at the University of Toronto hosts a symposium bringing together members of the United Nations Global Indigenous Youth Forum at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) from around the world to contribute to ongoing conversations about Indigenous people’s right to food. The symposium aims to demonstrate, discuss, and learn how to support diverse efforts globally to promote and conserve Indigenous, ancestral, and culinary heritage food knowledge, perspectives, and practices for food sovereignty. The event includes culinary demonstrations, tastings, and a panel discussion.
There will also be a screening of short documentaries developed by these ancestral and Indigenous food knowledge keepers and Chefs in collaboration with scholars at UTSC as part of our community action research mobilization efforts.
