Indigenous-Led Events happening in Ontario – November
Mohawk writer and Canadian best-selling author Alicia Elliott will be at the East Gwillimbury Public Library to talk about her recently released second book, “AND THEN SHE FELL.”
Her first book, A Mind Spread Out on the Ground, was a national bestseller in Canada and won the 2018 RBC Taylor Emerging Writer Award.
It was also nominated for the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction and won the Forest of Reading Evergreen Award.
Anishinaabe Traditional Elder and Cultural Consultant Kim Wheatley will lead the discussion surrounding the themes of inherited trauma, womanhood, and mental health that Ms. Elliott’s books explore and that she and her family have endured.
