Glowing trails, festive music and dazzling light displays are returning to Royal Botanical Gardens as one of the GTA most anticipated holiday experiences, RBG’s Winter Wonders transforms its beautiful gardens into a sparkling winter destination this November.
The annual holiday experience invites guests to wander through illuminated landscapes, gather around glowing campfires and enjoy seasonal treats, alongside new art installations and returning favourites in Canada’s largest botanical garden.
New Installations
This year, Hamilton-based light and projection art collective OPTICKS brings Aestivatic Aesthetic to Kippax Trail, transforming it into a nocturnal world of luminous creatures, a nature-inspired soundscape and ultraviolet elements revealed through custom-designed “scout scopes.”
Toronto-based artist and creative technologist Jordan Shaw presents Seed Bank, an interactive installation of sculptural forms representing scattered seeds that come to life through light as guests move through the space.
Visitors can also step into The Light Within, an immersive inflatable garden of colour, pattern and light by Australian artist Matthew Aberline and The Beautiful and Useful Studio. The installation invites guests to wander, gather, take photos and pause along the way.
Beloved Holiday Favourites Return
Alongside the new installations, visitors can look forward to the return of The Singing Tree and Lantern Alley, as well as the artisan market, featuring a rotating selection of local vendors offering handcrafted goods.
The festivities continue inside RBG Centre, where seasonal décor and plant displays bring warmth and colour to the winter season. Guests can explore the Mediterranean Garden and Breezeway or visit the Botanical Train Display, where model trains wind through miniature Canadian-inspired landscapes surrounded by more than 2,500 plants.
For holiday shopping, the RBG Gift Shop offers nature-inspired gifts, books, home décor and exclusive RBG merchandise.
Whether it’s a cherished annual tradition, a festive date night or a first visit with family and friends, Winter Wonders offers one of the best ways to celebrate the holiday season.
