MotionBall for Special Olympics (Toronto)
Presented by Scarborough Toyota, Canada’s largest sporting event in support of the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, is back just in time for June!
The Marathon of Sport Toronto will occur on Saturday, June 8th, at the York University Keele Campus. This event will see sixty-four teams, each with a star Special Olympics athlete, compete in a variety of sports, like football, giant pong, ultimate frisbee, benchball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer, and can participate in a #NoGoodWay activation, at the York University Keele Campus, a transit-friendly venue.
Teams from around the GTA will fundraise prior to the event with the overall goal of raising $450,000 net for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. The Marathon of Sport brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement and allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities. The funds raised through this year’s Marathon of Sport will ensure Special Olympics athletes have the resources to stay active and compete in the sports they love on a national and international level.
This year, attendees will end the day by celebrating at the on-site after-party at York Lions Stadium from 4 pm to 8 pm. Participants will listen to live music and enjoy a complimentary drink in the beer garden.
